Kathleen de Leon began singing and dancing at a young age. She taught herself to play the guitar and was enrolled at The McDonald College, an exclusive performing arts school in Sydney, Australia, where she studied dance, drama, and vocals. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the school.
De Leon also trained at the Australian College of Entertainment and competed in the Australian television talent show New Faces, where she finished third. She has also appeared on various Australian television shows.
While performing at a fundraiser for The McDonald College, de Leon was discovered by a director of the Cameron Macintosh company. She went on to appear in two of their musicals, Miss Saigon and Rent, where she was an extra and a dance captain.
In 1998, de Leon was cast in the children’s television series Hi-5, where she performed as a puppet character named Jup-Jup. She remained with the show until 2007, when she left to focus on raising her daughter Mikayla.

As of 2015, de Leon and her family were living in Las Vegas. In 2016, they said they would one day move back to Australia’s Gold Coast, which they did in 2023.
