Acclaimed singer, actress and television personality Cher is lifting the curtain on her famous life with the release of her highly anticipated two-part memoir, Cher: Memoir. Part one will hit shelves this month, part two is scheduled for release in 2025.
Here are some of the most revealing moments from her deeply personal story, shared entirely on her own terms.
Tina Turner asks for her help to end her marriage
As a young star dealing with the pressures of fame, Cher is not alone in facing a tumultuous marriage with her co-star. Her close friend, Tina Turner, was also looking to escape her abusive relationship with Ike Turner – going so far as to ask Cher for advice on how she ended things with Sonny.
In her memoir, Cher recalls the unforgettable night Tina graced her primetime show with a powerful performance.

Cher has a lasting love for Gregg Allman
Cher met Allman when she attended one of his concerts at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. The couple met when Allman asked one of his associates to pass her a note.

Sonny Bono thought about killing her
After Cher revealed to Bono that she wanted to sleep with a guitar player in their band named Bill, he thought about killing her.

Bono took all her money

“In this memoir, I call my son Chaz Chas, the name he used during the years covered in this book. Chaz blessed this use. In the next volume, when the time is right, I will mention my son’s name is Chaz,” she said in passing Today.
