Jason Michael Weaver was born on July 18, 1979 to Robert Lincoln Weaver and Marilyn “Kitty” Haywood. His mother was a key contributor to the Chicago-based girl group Kitty & the Haywoods.
He collaborated with the late Aretha Franklin on the soundtrack recording for the 1970 film Sparkle. His mother raised Weaver alone because his father was only in the picture. His mother supported him in both acting and singing throughout his childhood.
