Jeanette Aw Ee-Ping was born in Singapore on 28 June 1979, of Quanzhou, Southern Fujian, Chinese heritage. She has two siblings: a brother and a sister. Jeanette Aw, who grew up in an English-speaking family, rarely used the local dialect in their conversations.
