After his conviction, he was imprisoned for ten years on Robben Island but was fortunately released in 1990 after a 12-day hunger strike.

In 2009, Jeff Radebe assumed the role of Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development of South Africa. During his tenure, he successfully implemented the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and played a key role in shaping the country’s new constitution.
