Early life and education
Joy Reid, 56 years old this year, was born on December 8, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York.

Career
Joy Reid began her journalism career in the 1990s, starting as a morning show producer for WSVN Channel 7 in South Florida.
In 2003, she left traditional journalism to join America Coming Together, a political organization opposing the Iraq War.
By 2006, she returned to broadcasting as co-host of Wake Up South Florida, a morning radio talk show.
Her association with MSNBC began in 2011, first as a contributor, then as managing editor of TheGrio.com.
