Early life

Larry Gaaga is a proud Igbo man, whose parents both came from the Southeast region of the country.

He hails from Abia State, nicknamed God’s State. He was born in the southeast to Mr. and Mrs. Ndianefo and spent his formative years in Umuahia, the capital.

This is where Ndianefo’s hometown is located. When Larry Gaaga grew older, he moved to Lagos to pursue his academic dream.

His love of music can be traced back to his days as an active member of his church choir, where he served from his teens into his teens. While in the choir, he learned how to play the drums, keyboard and guitar and became an expert at it. So it was not surprising to his close friends when he became interested in music production.

He started learning the craft under the guidance of an older friend and within a short period of time, he mastered the craft and started producing beats for upcoming artists in Southern Nigeria.

Even though he had to learn music production, Larry Gaaga didn’t need the same help composing. He is a talented musician. He began displaying his talent during his high school days by composing songs for his friends who were aspiring musicians and his church choir. As the years passed, he honed this talent so well that he was able to collaborate with some of the world’s biggest artists.

Additionally, while still a college student, Larry Gaaga became interested in the music business and worked as a manager for several upcoming artists. Unfortunately, none of these artists were able to make a major breakthrough in the industry.

Larry Gaaga is a university graduate, holding a degree from the famous University of Lagos.

Before entering university, he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and West African School Certificate from good primary and secondary schools.

Career

After leaving college, Larry Gaaga decided to take a break from pursuing music and enter the corporate world. He started out as an entrepreneur and began running a chain of small-scale businesses in the city. Even though he was successful in his new business projects, there was still a void in his heart because he was not satisfied.

He wants to do music. Leaving his business in trustworthy hands, he decided to try music again. He returned to the entertainment industry by taking the position of General Manager of YSG Entertainment. That was in 2012. The label responsible for managing the rapper, Vector.

While Larry Gaaga was on the job, he made a name for himself as a great music executive and became acquainted with all the movers and shakers in the industry. After diligently serving the company for 5 years, he decided to leave and establish his own music label. Gaaga Muzik was founded in 2017. While working for YSG Entertainment, he collaborated with Vector on the single Get Down.

Shortly after founding his record label, Larry took the industry by storm when he released the hit single, Gaga Shuffle, featuring 2Baba. The song was widely received and praised by Afrobeats lovers within months of its release. The single became an anthem as fans imitated Larry’s signature dance moves. The dance was featured in the song’s music video directed by ace cinematographer, Unlimited LA.

Encouraged by the success of his official debut single, Larry worked harder in 2018 and brought more gifts to his fans. He has released songs like Doe featuring Davido; Great featuring Wande Coal and Sarkodie; and Baba Nla has Burna Boy, 2Baba and D’banj.

In 2019, he and 2Baba teamed up again to create the party jam game, Iworiwo, which charted for months. Along with Peruzzi and 2Baba, he was featured on Slimcase’s single Azaman. His biggest breakthrough of the year was when he landed a songwriting and production deal with international music company, Universal Music Group. Due to his deal with the company, he had the opportunity to do soundtracks for films such as Living In Bondage: Breaking Free, Nneka The Pretty Serpent and Rattle Snake.

His music video for the song Low, which features Wizkid, has garnered over 11 million views on YouTube. The song is one of his successes in 2019.

He is one of the judges on the upcoming reality show, The Next Eagle. His co-judges are DJ Lambo and Magnito Freshout.
