Lil Baby explains why he doesn’t approve of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ lyrics about him

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” is one of the biggest hits of the year, but not everyone is a fan.

While Drake’s diss track has sparked a lot of discussion, Lil Baby is the latest to speak out against it.

On the track, Lamar raps: “Lil Baby got you up your lingo” referencing his accusation that Drake has no street cred.

“I really don’t like that side of Hip-Hop,” Lil Baby tells Charlamagne The God in a new interview.

Charlamagne confirmed that Lil Baby and Drake have always had a good relationship, and Lil Baby questioned why he was involved in this feud.

“If you and him [Drake] What the hell are you arguing about that you have to tell me, you know?” Lil Baby questioned.

“I feel like rapping and that’s my job. I don’t like that genre,” he added.

Drake has filed multiple lawsuits against “Not Like Us”. In a Nov. 25 filing, Drake claimed UMG “remitted payments” to iHeart as part of a “pay-to-play scheme” to promote “Not Like Us” on radio.

Additionally, in the filing Drake states that UMG knew that Kendrick’s song “falsely” accused him of being a “certified pedophile” and “predator” but still chose to release it.

In “Not Like Us” Lamar raps: “Hey Drake, I heard you like the kids / You better never go to jail cell one / With any bitch that talks to him and they’re in love / Just make sure you hide your sister from him.”

The documents filed are not a lawsuit but instead a pre-action filing aimed at obtaining testimony from key figures at UMG and iHeart for additional information that could assist for Drake’s allegations in a future lawsuit.

Prior to that action, Drake filed a lawsuit against UMG previously on November 25. In that lawsuit, he claimed that UMG used payola to hype the success of “Not Like Us” during its release week.

The filing alleges that UMG “engaged in conduct designed to artificially inflate the popularity of ‘Not Like Us’ […] including licensing the song at a significantly reduced price to Spotify and using ‘bots’ to create the false impression that the song was more popular than it actually was.”

UMG released a statement to Billboard about legal documents.

“The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is insulting and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns No artificial and unreasonable legal arguments in this submission before the action can conceal the truth.” Let fans choose the music they want to listen to,” they said.
