Lisa Valerie Kudrow was born on July 30, 1963 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Her father, Dr. Lee N. Kudrow, is a headache doctor, and her mother, Nedra Stern, is a travel agent. She has three siblings: a sister, Helen Mara Kudrow, and two brothers: David B. Kudrow and Derek Kudrow.
She grew up in a middle-class Jewish family and completed her elementary school at Portola Middle School in Tarzana, California. Her next stop was Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. Lisa Kudrow excelled in school and loved sports.
Lisa Kudrow was inspired by her father to be like him, and like him, she plans to study the causes of headaches after earning a Bachelor of Science in biology from Vassar College.
