Early Life & Education

Mercy Aigbe was born on January 1, 1978 in Edo State to Pa Aigbe and Mrs. Abisola Grace Owodunni. At the age of 46, she hails from Benin City, the capital of Edo State. She has an older sister named Joy Aigbe.

She is the second child in a family of five people. She attended elementary school at St. Francis and attended Maryland Comprehensive High School, Ikeja, Lagos.

Mercy Aigbe is also an alumna of Ibadan Polytechnic, Oyo State, where she received her OND degree in Financial Studies. In 2001, she graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in Theater Arts.

Career

Mercy Aigbe started her acting career by participating in several soap operas, including the popular television series “Papa Ajasco“.

Professionally, she fully entered the Nollywood industry in 2006 and acted in the movie that brought her to the limelight ‘Ara’, a movie produced by Remi Olupo in Ibadan, Oyo State.

She founded “Mercy Aigbe Gentry Drama School” in 2016.

Mercy Aigbe, in 2014, married a Nigerian hotelier, Lanre Gentry, and has two children: Juwon Gentry and Michelle Gentry Aigbe, including three stepdaughters.

Before turning to filmmaking, Kazim Adeoti initially started pursuing Business Studies at Kwara State Polytechnic to be inducted into the University of Jos to simultaneously focus on Business Management.

He agreed to the final choice, and after completing the exam, he went on to America in 2001, where he became a home loan dealer for ten years. A year later, he married his sweetheart and the mother of his four children, Oluwafunsho Asiwaju.

Some time before he became acquainted with the Yoruba film industry, Kazim Adeoti was more interested in filmmaking and change of direction. So, he focused on the action plan of famous Yoruba film promoters, Wasiu Afolayan, Chairman of Wasai Film and Kazeem Afolayan of Epsalum Production.

The two men were his close companions, and in this way they acquainted him with important players in the Yoruba film industry.

By 2005, he signed up for his company Adekaz Production Limited and shot his most memorable movie ‘Ona Laafin’ produced by Jaiye Kuti after a year.
