Nick Jonas, Adrienne Warren lead the cast of ‘The Last Five Years’ on Broadway

Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren landed the lead roles in the film Last Five YearsThe upcoming Broadway play is scheduled to open in spring 2025.

Director Whitney White, a Tony Award nominee known for his work on Jaja’s African braidsis overseeing a revival of the musical with iconic music and book by Jason Robert Brown.

Last Five Years appeared on Off-Broadway in 2002 and again in 2013 before being adapted into a film. It first launched in 2001.

IN Last Five Yearsaudiences follow the journey of two New York City residents – Jamie, an aspiring writer, and Cathy, an emerging actress – as they navigate the ups and downs of their love story in 5 years, recounting their experiences from different times.

According to Deadline, Brown said, “I always believed that when the time was right, The Last Five Years would make it to Broadway.”

Meanwhile, White commented to Playbill: “Last Five Years is one of America’s greatest original musicals. I couldn’t be more excited to bring it to Broadway for the first time with Nick and Adrienne, two powerhouse performers and theater lovers.”

“I fell in love with this musical many years ago when I was a student at Northwestern. I found it then and still consider The Last Five Years a human portrait and a beautiful exercise in make time – the only thing we are all bound to feel has consequences.”

Beyond his success with the Jonas Brothers, Jonas embarked on Broadway with How to succeed in business without really trying in 2012, succeeding Daniel Radcliffe for a time. Before that, he showed his talent in works such as Miserables, Beauty and the BeastAnd Annie Get your gun.

This comes after the Jonas Brothers recently went on tour scheduled for 2024, including notable stops on Broadway along the way.

Meanwhile, receiving critical acclaim, Warren showed off his talent in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, won a Tony Award. Her notable performances earned her a Tony nomination in Shuffle along, where she starred alongside Audra McDonald. Made an impressive Broadway debut in Bring it on In 2012, Warren expanded his portfolio to include various film and television projects.
