Career
Pascal Dozie’s journey from Uganda to Nigeria was like a homecoming as he began his entrepreneurial journey in his homeland. In 1971, he founded the African Development Consultants Group (ADCG) after his mother beckoned him to return to Nigeria. A master of Econometrics and Industrial Engineering, he soon worked with major corporations such as Nestle and Pfizer and was later offered a job researching the Cooperative and Commercial Bank by the then Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Clement Isong.
With his business acumen, he was appointed Chairman of Progress Bank in 1985. With a desire to meet the banking needs of traders in the South East of Nigeria, Pascal Dozie applied for a license, which led to the establishment of Diamond Bank. The bank’s capital was ₦10 million, with 21 interested shareholders. His vision and hard work helped Diamond Bank rise to the top of the Nigerian banking industry.
In 1990, he successfully completed the regulatory requirements of the Central Bank of Nigeria, allowing him to establish a standard bank. The following year, Pascal Dozie founded Diamond Bank and served as CEO from 1991 until his son Uzoma Dozie took over in 2006. Today, Diamond Bank is renowned as one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions.
