Early life and education
Pierre Png Tiang Huat was born in Singapore on 8 October 1973. He was educated at St. Gabriel’s Primary School and Holy Infant’s School. His parents are Tame Png and Harriet Png.

After graduating from National Junior College, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese from the National University of Singapore in 1995 and a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese with Honours from the same university in 1997.
Pierre Png is of Chinese descent with Peranakan ancestry. His father was a great influence on him, instilling in him the importance of hard work and determination.

After completing his military service, Pierre Png made his debut in the 1998 film “Forever Fever”. He enrolled in acting classes because the role sparked his interest in acting. In the same year, he won the Channel 5 talent competition “Celebrity Awards”.
He made his television debut with Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd., appearing in several Channel 5 projects. He later began acting in Chinese TV dramas on Channel 8. In 2001, he was nominated for the Most Popular Newcomer Award at the Star Awards.
He was first nominated for Best Actor at the Star Awards for Shining Star in 2006. In 2014, Fong received four nominations before finally winning the coveted award for his cool performance as Hei Long in Mediacorp’s year-end hit The Journey: A Trip.
