Her parents are retired Colonel George Nare and Bessie Muzvidzwa. She grew up in Harare but is originally from the village of Manama in Gwanda, Zimbabwe.

Pokello Nare has mentioned that she enjoys cooking and this is shown through the dishes she occasionally posts on social media. With all the other roles she has to take on, she makes time to cook for her family. Ex-husband Elikem Kurmodzie has nothing but praise for her as a stay-at-home wife. He mentioned that she used to cook and even breastfeed her baby constantly at home. So you can imagine running into her at the grocery store. She is a down-to-earth and skillful diva in the kitchen.

She is also a philanthropist and HIV testing advocate, running annual campaigns to encourage young people, especially women, to know their HIV status.

Pokello Nare has two sons, Nathan and Tristan, 17 years old and 5 years old respectively. Nathan’s father is unknown, but Tristan’s father is her ex-husband and former Big Brother Africa housemate Elikem Kurmodzie, a fashion designer from Ghana.

Before joining Big Brother Africa, Pokello Nare was in a relationship with rapper Stunner. She later broke up with him on national television and began a relationship with her housemate, Elikem Kurmodzie, whom she later married in 2013 and had a son with, Tristan.

Their marriage lasted 4 years and the reason given at the time of divorce was “irreconcilable differences”. They have both since made it clear that Elikem was not ready for marriage at the time and that the long distance between them complicated their relationship. As of November 2017, Pokello is in a relationship with businessman Ronald ‘Rondon’ Muzambe.

Pokello is not one to shy away from controversy, but instead uses it to reach higher in her pursuit of what makes her happy. She was caught up in a sex tape scandal with her ex-boyfriend Stunner, but this did not prevent her from participating in Big Brother Africa Season 8.
