Dr. Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State Center for Forensic Medicine and DNA, confirmed the much-awaited autopsy results of late singer Mohbad, real name Ilerioluwa Aloba, are expected in three to the next four weeks.

Dr. Somiari provided this update while testifying at the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s untimely death. Defense attorneys questioned him during the proceedings.

Mohbad, just 27 years old, sadly passed away on September 12, 2023 and was buried the following day. His death caused quite a controversy, prompting the Lagos State Government to launch a thorough investigation through a coroner’s inquest.

The ongoing investigation at the Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court since October 13, 2023, is delving into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Dr. Somiari, speaking before Investigating Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, explained, “We expect to receive the first autopsy results in three to four weeks and reconfirm to confirm the cause of death. We explored various possibilities, including toxicity, as no specific cause was initially mentioned..”
He assured the public that strict security measures are in place to ensure the integrity of autopsy samples and the accuracy of results.

During the proceedings, Mr. Sadiq Ayobami, also known as Spend, testified that he spent time with Mohbad the day before his death. They attended a concert together in Ikorodu before Mohbad visited Ayobami’s house.
Speaking before Mohbad’s parents, Mrs. Abiodun Kolawole, an activist represented African Women Bar Associationadvised them to pursue legal avenues to resolve all issues related to the paternity of Mohbad’s child, instead of resorting to social media.
Judge TA Shotobi adjourned the case until April 15 and ordered all parties involved to appear for further proceedings on that date.
