Rochas Okorocha’s political career has been one of many ups and downs. The Nigerian politician threw his hat into the ring during the PDP primary election for governor of Imo State in 1999 but lost to Achike Udenwa. Despite this setback, he remained undeterred and continued to serve in various capacities, such as the Federal Character Committee and the National Constitutional Convention.

In 2003, Rochas Okorocha sought the presidential nomination of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) but failed, forcing him to return to the PDP. Not long after, he caught the attention of President Olusegun Obasanjo, who appointed him as Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs.

Determined to follow his own path, Rochas Okorocha founded the Action Alliance (AA) party in 2005, intending to run for president under AA in the 2007 election. However, he joined the PDP and announced his desire to become the party’s National Chairman in September 2007.

In 2011, Rochas Okorocha left the PDP to join the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and contested the national election as a candidate for Governor of Imo State.
