Ryan Higa (born June 6, 1990), commonly known as nigahiga, is an American Internet personality and YouTuber. Best known for his comedy videos on YouTube, he began making videos in 2006 and was one of the platform’s most popular creators in its early years.
From 2009 to 2011, his main YouTube channel, nigahiga, was the most subscribed channel on YouTube for 677 consecutive days, a feat only PewDiePie has achieved.
Ryan Higa was the first person on YouTube to surpass 2 million and 3 million subscribers. In 2018, he founded the podcast Off the Pill, which has featured top YouTubers and celebrities, including KevJumba, Andrew Yang, and Jeremy Lin.

Early life and education
Ryan Higa was born on June 6, 1990 in Hilo, Hawaii, United States. He is the son of Wendell Higa (father) and Luci Higa (mother). He has an older brother named Kyle Higa and is of Okinawan descent.
He competed in judo as a child and earned a black belt. He wrestled at Waiakea High School, graduating in 2008.
Ryan Higa was a nuclear medicine major at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, but dropped out to pursue his passion for content creation.

While attending Waiakea High School, Ryan Higa and Sean Fujiyoshi began posting videos of themselves lip-syncing to songs on YouTube in mid-2006. They soon expanded their repertoire beyond songs, performing various comedy routines. Tim Enos, Ryan Villaruel, Kyle Chun, and Tarynn Nago also made occasional guest appearances.
In August 2009, Ninja Melk, a 26-minute short film about ninjas, was released. The plot revolves around a ninja master named Master Ching Ching sending his student Lapchung (Bryson Murata) to find a replacement.
