Sabrina Carpenter releases five versions of ‘Please, Please, Please’, accused of ‘trying’ to diss Taylor Swift

Sabrina Carpenter is making waves on the charts, giving Taylor Swift some competition, more so when she took a page from Swift and released different versions of a popular track .

The pop star is enjoying the summer with two huge hits, “Espresso” and “Please Please”.

The latter, accompanied by a music video starring her boyfriend, Barry Keoghan, debuted on June 7, telling the story of Bonnie and Clyde and romantic scenes between the pair.

“Please Please” had an impressive debut at No. 2 on the Billboard Charts in its first week. Building on its success, Sabrina released five more versions of the track.

In addition to the original and clean versions, fans can now enjoy acoustic, sped up, slowed down, A cappella and instrumental renditions of the song.

Fans on social media were quick to draw comparisons to Taylor Swift, who has also released multiple versions of her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which was originally released on April 19.

One Reddit user commented: “Getting advice from Taylor, I see… no wonder Sabrina has been working her butt off lately.” Another jokingly asked: “Did she ask Taylor’s permission?”

Speculation arose that Carpenter’s strategy of releasing multiple versions was intended to increase her position on the Billboard charts. Some don’t like this strategy.

“The charts are so broken,” one comment lamented, while another hoped for a revision of the chart rules to address the impact of song variations.

Currently, Swift and Carpenter continue to dominate the Billboard charts with their respective releases.

Since her 2022 album “Emails I Can’t Send,” Sabrina Carpenter has reemerged as both a sex-positive singer-songwriter and has been dubbed “the queen of short pop” by Quinta Brunson. ”

Since then, she’s struck up a romance with Saltburn star Barry Keoghan, headlined a global tour and even took to the stage as Taylor Swift’s opening act on her blockbuster Eras tour .

“It’s amazing growing up idolizing someone, then meeting them, and they’re all the people you hoped they would become,” Carpenter said of Swift.

“On a personal level, she was really there for me and I’m so grateful. That’s what she taught me so well – she remained very human throughout.”
