Schools in Andhra Pradesh Reopening Date June 13 for Academic Year 2024-25

Schools in Andhra Pradesh will reopen on Thursday, June 13 for the 2024-25 academic year.

Reopening postponed due to Prime Minister’s Oath Ceremony

Andhra Pradesh, India – In a recent development, the reopening of schools in Andhra Pradesh has been postponed to Thursday, June 13 for the 2024-25 academic year. Initially scheduled for June 12, the reopening was postponed as the swearing-in ceremony of Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the newly elected Chief Minister of the state, was also scheduled to take place on the same day. As a result, the state education department declared a holiday for all schools on Wednesday, ensuring that classes will begin on Thursday.

The notification was issued by the Andhra Pradesh Education Department

To ensure that students are fully informed about this change, the Andhra Pradesh education department has issued a notice to all students, urging them to take note of the rescheduled reopening date. This notice is intended to prevent any confusion or inconvenience between students and their families.

Delays in the distribution of education kits and textbooks

For students of government schools from class 1 to 10, the previous administration had taken a commendable initiative. On the first day of school, educational kits, including textbooks and uniforms, were provided. These kits, called Jagannanna Vidya Kanuka kits, have been distributed continuously for the past four years. However, this year, the distribution of these kits and textbooks may be delayed. While textbooks have been delivered to mandatory centres, the final decision on distribution will be taken once the new Education Minister takes office in the newly formed government.

A comprehensive set of educational materials compiled by the school education department

The school education department of Andhra Pradesh has taken proactive measures to ensure students have access to the necessary resources. A total of 3.6 million sets of educational materials have been prepared, including textbooks for all subjects, TOEFL workbooks, Future Skills topic books, three sets of uniform fabric, school bags, belt and Oxford dictionary. In addition, students from grades 1 to 5 will be given exercise books and picture dictionaries, and students from grades 6 to 10 will be provided with notebooks. As in previous years, bilingual textbooks were printed. Furthermore, starting this school year, 10th grade textbooks will also be offered in English, reflecting the shift to English-medium teaching methods. Additionally, new cover designs have been introduced for textbooks from grades 3 to 10, enhancing the visual appeal of the learning materials.

CBSE curriculum and other notable changes

Around a thousand government schools in Andhra Pradesh have adopted the CBSE curriculum. Accordingly, class 10 social subjects will be taught using the CBSE teaching method, with the NCERT syllabus including geography, economics, history and democratic politics. Notably, this year marks the first time physics textbooks are printed on fine art paper, providing a unique learning experience for students. Furthermore, the government has introduced the Future Skills course for Grade 8 students, emphasizing the importance of acquiring essential skills for the future. However, it is important to note that some changes in education policy may occur based on the decisions of the newly formed government.

As the new school year begins, students and educators are eagerly looking forward to the reopening of schools in Andhra Pradesh. With the necessary measures taken to ensure the availability of educational resources, students can look forward to a rich and productive year of learning ahead.
