Shatta Wale was born on October 17, 1984 to Mr Charles Nii Armah Mensah Snr and Mrs Elsie Evelyn Avemegah. He was born at the Police Hospital in Accra, Ghana. He was named after his father.
He was born into a family with strong economic power and great political influence. His father was a politician, businessman and lawyer, and his mother was a businesswoman who owned several thriving small businesses.
Shatta Wale’s formative years were spent in Accra, where he lived in his parents’ house in an upscale neighbourhood.
