Sophia Momodu Likely to Win Against Davido in Imade’s Bitter Custody Battle

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, commonly known as Davido, is locked in a bitter custody battle with Sophia Momodu, the mother of his daughter, Imade Aurora Adeleke. Sophia, a fashion entrepreneur and Davido’s ex-partner, has accused the singer of abandoning their child and failing to meet his financial responsibilities.

The dispute escalated when Davido filed a lawsuit for joint custody of Imade. Sophia alleged that he had not seen their daughter since July 2022 and had stopped all financial support. Through her legal representative, Sophia also claimed that Davido had threatened her for refusing to have sex and revealed that she had only been paying for Imade’s expenses, including rent, living expenses, healthcare and transportation.

Davido has denied the allegations, insisting that he has fulfilled his fatherly duties. He accused Sophia of rejecting his offer to stay in the condominium he bought in Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, insisting that he continue to pay ₦5 million annually for the rental accommodation. He also claimed that he provided Imade with transportation, but Sophia failed to inform him when one of the vehicles stopped working.

The custody battle has sparked fierce debate on social media, with many Nigerians voicing their views. Some have criticised both parents for going public with their issues, while others have taken sides, supporting either Davido or Sophia.
