Taylor Swift’s Epochal Tour in Cardiff: Welsh-Speaking ‘Mocking’ Stunning Singer Scooter Braun

Taylor Swift delighted fans at her Cardiff show by starting the show by speaking Welsh and tweaking one of her songs on Tuesday night.

The 34-year-old singer is currently on her Eras tour in the UK, with her latest concert held at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, where she performed to an impressive crowd of 70,000.

Swift began the show by warmly greeting her fans in Welsh, saying: “Croeso i’r daith Eras!” which means “Welcome to the Eras Tour.”

While performing her breakup song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” she added a local flair by handing her microphone to a dancer, who exclaimed “Ych-a-fi” , a Welsh expression used to express disgust.

She then admired the audience and said: “This Cardiff crowd is one for the books. This crowd is very different, you are on another level!”

During Swift’s Cardiff performance, she also stunned the crowd with a guitar mashup of Scooter Braun’s birthday, making everyone cheer as she sang, “Did you think I wouldn’t hear all these what you said about me?”

Speaking to the audience during her acoustic performance, Swift commented: “I spend a lot of time planning these things and finding out what you guys might like. Basically, how loud you sing me whether I’m doing it right or not.”

She transitions seamlessly from “I Forgot That You Existed” to “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things,” incorporating a playful twist in the bridge where she sings, “Because forgiveness is a good thing to do” from her Album “Fame”.

Swift stopped, laughed and raised her hands to her head, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

The singer-songwriter has been outspoken about reclaiming ownership of her music, especially her first six albums, after Scooter Braun’s company acquired them.

Following advice from Kelly Clarkson, Swift took decisive action to re-record her songs, ensuring the original versions remained hers and were not released on streaming services. Braun sold the masters to Shamrock Holdings in 2019 for $300 million.

This comes after reports of Swifties making a significant change ahead of their Cardiff show: the stadium roof will remain closed, meaning no fireworks at the end of Taylor’s show. Fans were pleased as they expected a better visual experience in the dark, enhanced by the wristband and lights.

On X/Twitter, a fan shared: “The roof is closed. There are no fireworks. But I think the show will go dark!” Another person replied: “So tonight we will take full advantage of the wristbands.”
