After her parents passed away, she was adopted by her grandmother, who raised her with great care and did not let her feel any regret for the departure of her parents.

When Tuso Mbedu was eighteen, she began studying.

At the age of 18, Tuso Mbedu began studying Physical Theatre and Performing Arts Management at the University of the Witwatersrand, graduating with honors.

In 2012, she went to the Stella Adler Acting Studio in New York, USA to continue her studies and obtained another certificate.

Thuso Mbedu’s acting career started with a simple role in the second season of the Mzansi Magic soap opera “isiBaya” in 2014. After that, with her excellent acting skills, she played the role of Kitso, a journalism student and wild child in “Scandal” in 2015.

In the same year, she guest-starred as Kheti in the second season of the SABC 2 youth drama series Snake Garden. However, she did not appear in other roles for six (6) months after her role in Snake Garden.

Then, finally, after six months of silence and failing to impress, she landed her first TV leading role in the Mzansi Magic teen drama Is’thunzi, which premiered in October 2016. She played Winnie – an ambitious, weak-willed girl who dreams of marrying a rich and famous rugby player, but those dreams are shattered when she is exiled and moves to Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, to live with her strict aunt.

In 2017, Thuso Mbedu played the role of Ipeleng in the popular MTV series Shuga and in 2018, she played the lead role of Okuhle Cele in the TV series Side Dish.
