Meet Arianna Davis, One of the Dancers Suing Lizzo
Arianna Davis is one of Lizzo’s former dancers who has sued her. The allegations and complaints, including the incident at the Amsterdam club, are detailed in the lawsuit. At one point, it is alleged that during the night, Lizzo “gave Arianna her attention and began pressuring Arianna to touch the breasts of one of the naked women.”
Arianna refused multiple times, but the singer “provoked” her into touching the naked woman, claiming the chants “got louder and more piercing, requiring a visibly uncomfortable Ms. Davis to engage with the performer.” After recording the meeting with other dancers and the singer in April, she was later fired. The dancer decided to film the video because she had an eye problem that left her feeling “disoriented.”
After the discovery, the lawsuit states, “Lizzo became angry, cursed at the group, and stated that she would walk around the room, one by one, until someone told Lizzo who had recorded it.” Arianna was “berated” and then immediately fired on the spot, although she admitted to recording it but claimed the video was deleted and that she never intended to cause any harm.
Filming for the reality show began in August 2021. During one episode, contestants were told they would be required to participate in a nude photo shoot, which left Davis distressed. “Ms. Davis broke down in tears on set as she struggled to choose between a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity and exposing her body against her will,” the lawsuit states. “This experience foreshadowed the sexually explicit and offensive environment that Lizzo’s employees would be subjected to.”
Arianna claims that Lizzo and choreographer Tanisha Scott made “thinly veiled” comments about her weight on April 21, accusing her of not being dedicated to her work on the dance team. According to the lawsuit, Arianna said Lizzo made a reference to her weight during the South by Southwest music festival. Her dance partner was fired by Lizzo’s production manager in a hotel lobby a week later “under the pretext of budget cuts,” according to the lawsuit.
According to the complaint, Arianna was fired on May 3 after filming a discussion between dancers and Lizzo about their performance.
