His wife, Deborah Sharp, was a great support during those busy days, he said.

Kerry said he and Deborah realized when he was home for extended periods during the height of pandemic restrictions, it might be time to open a new chapter in their lives. “We realized that we always do well when we’re together, so maybe that’s what we should do now,” he said excitedly.

So it was clear that Deborah had also been eagerly awaiting the day when her husband could come so he would never have to work again. “So proud of my husband and his 30+ years as an outstanding reporter for NBC. The Today Show gave him quite a send-off as he (and we!) enter a new phase of life ” she wrote on Facebook recently after he parted ways with the TODAY show.

Deborah and Kerry have come a long way. They got married in 1989. Decades later and they still enjoy each other’s company. On their anniversary (January 8) a few years ago, Deborah wrote affectionately on social media about how she won the lottery by marrying the most wonderful man in the world.

The former US Marine’s wife even shared some photos of their favorite awkward wedding ceremony on social media.

Deborah Sharp was born in 1954. So she turned 69 in early 2023.

That makes her much older than Kerry, who turns 62 in 2022.

Deborah Sharp is a native Floridian. At the time of writing, she lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with her husband. This is also where she likely grew up.

So when Charles died, Deborah’s mother was left to raise her two youngest children, Deborah, then 8, and Charles Kevin, 4, on her own. Her eldest daughter, Charlene, had to work double shifts at the restaurant to keep from losing her home on Davie Avenue.
