Zoe Tay Zheng (born 10 January 1968), professionally known as Zoe Tay, is a Singaporean actress and former model. She began her modeling career in the 1980s and rose to fame in the 1990s with her roles in the television series The Unbeatables and The Last Swordman.

Early Life & Education
Zoe Tay was born in Singapore on 10 January 1968 to parents Teochew. She is in a family of seven people. She is the sixth child in the family. Zoe Tay lost her mother, Wong Pong Chin, in a horrific motorbike accident when she was just three years old.
After her death, her father decided to remarry. Her father’s second marriage produced a daughter named Pong Chin. While her stepmother is a housewife, her father works at a pig farm in Lim Chu Kang.
Zoe Tay attended Yuan Ching Secondary School after studying at Kay Hua Primary School, where she completed her O-level exams. She studied fashion design at Baharuddin Vocational Academy.
She considered taking the name “Jenny” when she was 13 because her last name, Zheng, was often mispronounced as “Jenny.” But her siblings didn’t like it. Then Zoe Tay looked up “Zoe” in the dictionary.
Personal life
Philip Chionh, a former pilot of the Republic of Singapore Air Force, is Zoe Tay’s husband. They married in 1995 after a church ceremony and a Western-themed party at the Ritz Carlton.
They got engaged in 1995 when she was at the peak of her career. Nathan Chionh, Brayden Chionh and Ashton Chionh are the three sons they had when they were young.
Career
Zoe Tay began her modelling career at the age of 16. She won the Model of the Year award in 1987. She was awarded a three-year contract with the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), now known as MediaCorp, after winning the first Star Search in 1988. She was initially not interested in acting, but after appearing in Crime and Passion in 1991, she developed a passion for the industry.
Zoe Tay gained recognition for her innovative portrayal of a haughty young woman in Pretty Faces. She has won the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste Award every year since the Star Awards were established in 1994, which is a testament to her popularity. In 1996, she won the Best Actress award at the annual Star Awards for her work on Golden Pillow.
