Voice The D Smooth star, whose real name is David Mitchell, revealed on Facebook that he is in a relationship. According to our research, his girlfriend’s name is N’Dia Givens. They were friends for a very long time before they started dating each other.

Growing up in the close-knit rural community of Mulga, just north of Birmingham, D Smooth began singing in the church choir, like many other Southerners. “It’s one way in, one way out, with two churches in the neighborhood,” D Smooth said. D Smooth played in a jazz band as a child. However, he worked his way up as a multi-sport student-athlete through high school and college at the same time.

D came to Montgomery in 2016 while studying at Faulkner University. “I don’t have family here, but we have connections in Montgomery,” D Smooth said. “My mom went to Alabama State, and a lot of my family went to Alabama State.”

He started performing music at the age of 18. He admits it wasn’t a completely “smooth” process for him. After a year and a half at Faulkner, D.Smooth returned to Birmingham for a while to work. But Montgomery called him home in 2019.

D Smooth received almost national attention in 2021. He was selected for “The Voice” blind auditions for that season. “Honestly, it was my first time on a plane, let alone going to California. “I’m so grateful to have experienced everything that comes with it. I got to the last day and the teams filled up before it was my turn so I didn’t get to audition.”

“Music became my wife then,” D Smooth said. “At first it was like my girlfriend, or like my side piece. But it became my wife and I treat her now.”

D Smooth is one of four performers for the playoffs starting May 1.
