Who is Rodney Reid? Meet Storm Reid Father! Age, Occupation, His IG

Storm Reid may be happy with her body now. But the actress once feared being “too tall” because of her father Rodney Reid’s genes.

So, who is her tall dad? Read on to find out all about him.

Meet Rodney Reid, Storm Reid’s Father

Storm Reid was a loving father to Rodney Reid. Although he wasn’t always there for Storm, she said he taught her important life lessons.

On Father’s Day 2017, she posted a photo of her father on her FB, captioning, “Happy Father’s Day, Dad! I love you to the moon and back. Thank you for always supporting me even on the other side of the world. Thank you for teaching me important life lessons. Thank you for loving me.”

Additionally, later in the post, the actress thanked her dad for letting her call him “to talk about the latest underground rappers.” Presumably, the father-daughter duo enjoy rap music.

But Storm’s dad isn’t the only person she calls to talk about music and life. The actress is also very close to her mother, Robyn Simpson. In fact, her mom is so supportive that she told her she could quit acting at any time. “My mom always said, ‘If I don’t want to do it, [acting] otherwise I could have given up, but I didn’t want to. I feel like that’s everyone’s perspective,” Storm explained before adding, “As long as I’m happy, that’s what matters to them.”

Knowing that mom and dad love her the most and are “really proud of her” [her],” makes her “feel happy.”

Is Rodney Reid Still Married to Storm Reid’s Mom?

No, Rodney Reid may have divorced his daughter’s mother, Robyn Simpson.

In fact, it’s possible that Robyn has remarried. (Storm once mentioned “stepdad” in a post on her FB page — “Family movie night and stepdad’s birthday party.”)

Rodney’s possible ex-wife, Robyn Simpson, is an actress who has appeared on Poultry and Prejudice and The Jamie Foxx Show. She is also an Executive Producer who owns A Seed & Wings Productions — a multimedia production company she founded with her daughter Paris in 2020. They originally founded the production company to build an independent multimedia production company rooted in stories that would spark cross-cultural conversations, entertain, educate, and uplift.

Last we checked, this mother-daughter duo was producing the movie Darby Harper Wants You to Know.

The story revolves around Darby Harper (played by Storm), who, after a near-death experience as a child, is gifted with the ability to see ghosts. To combat the existential boredom of high school, she then runs a side business consulting local spirits in her spare time. But an unexpected incident between Darby and Capri (the most popular girl in her high school) forces Darby to help her and in the process learn to re-enter the living world.

How many children does Rodney Reid have?

Rodney Reid has four children — Iman, Josh, Paris and Storm.

Of the four, Storm (born July 1, 2003) is the youngest. Her older brother, Josh, was born on April 11, 2001. According to the 12 Years a Slave star, her brother is “the most amazing boy in the world. My real-life best friend. The person I call when my stomach hurts, when I’m angry, sad, excited, or just want to talk. My sneaker and tattoo buddy.”

As for Paris, she’s celebrating her birthday on August 16. She’s one half of A Seed & Wings Productions and has worked in the production office of The Late Late Show. Here’s her IG @ps_simp and Twitter @PS_iiLoveYou

Sadly we don’t know much about Iman. Here’s her IG @inimanwetrust.

Rodney Reid’s age

On the other hand, we can confirm that his wife, Robyn, was 55 years old at the time.

Rodney Reid’s work

Rodney Reid doesn’t reveal his job. But we’re sure it doesn’t involve anything as attention-grabbing as his daughter.

His daughter, Storm Reid, is an actress best known for her role as a young Emily in the critically acclaimed 2013 film 12 Years a Slave. Many may also know her as “Abigail” in the feature film Killing Winston Jones and “Sparkle” in the film Santa’s Boot Camp. In 2019, she also played “Gia” in HBO’s Euphoria.

No, Rodney is not on Instagram or any other social media. He is even absent from his daughter’s IG @stormreid.

  • Where is Rodney Reid from?

Rodney doesn’t reveal his hometown. But he welcomed Storm into Atlanta, GA, and when her acting ambitions became a viable career option at age 9, the family (minus Rodney) moved to Los Angeles.

Rodney was said to be over 6 feet (183 cm) tall. And because of his intimidating height, Storm feared she would be just as tall. Luckily, she wasn’t.

“I was afraid of being too tall because my dad was really tall, and both of my sisters were really tall. And they were really beautiful, but I didn’t know if I, as Storm, wanted to be six feet tall, because I felt like that was pretty tall already,” she says.
