Akshay Kumar, formerly known as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia, was born on September 9, 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab, India. His family later moved to Bombay (then Bombay) where he spent most of his early life.
Akshay Kumar is of Punjabi descent and was born into a Hindu family, although he openly identifies with Hinduism while showing respect for various other religions.
