Ariana Grande ‘Mentally ill’: Mother of victim Jeffrey Dahmer criticizes singer after controversial statement

The mother of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims has criticized Ariana Grande over Jeffrey Dahmer’s comments.

Speaking to TMZ, Shirley Hughes – mother of late model and Jeffrey’s victim Tony Hughes – criticized Ariana following the singer’s shocking confession about her “obsession” with the serial killer and wanted to have dinner with him.

“It seems to me that she’s mentally ill,” Shirley said of the “thank u, next” singer. “It’s not flattering or funny to say you want to have dinner with him. It’s not something you should say to young people, which is what she said she did.”

The matriarch also expressed her disappointment with Ariana’s behavior when she shared the story during her appearance on “Popcrushed.” Shirley noted that the “7 Rings” singer even laughed when talking about Jeffrey, who killed 17 men between 1978 and 1991.

Tony’s sister, Barbara Hughes-Holt, said Ariana should apologize so her fans can understand how she affected and hurt the families of Jeffrey’s victims by sharing her fascination with serial killers.

“Unfortunately, until it happened to her and her family, she had no idea what we were going through,” Barbara continued.

Their family member, Tony, was killed by Jeffrey after they met at a gay bar in 1991. The victim was said to be deaf and unable to speak.

Grande revealed on the show that a fan asked her during the Q&A who she wanted to have dinner with, and she answered “Jeffrey Dahmer.” She explained that she really wanted to meet the killer because she “had so many questions”.

Several Reddit threads showed users siding with the victim’s family and criticizing Ariana for her comments.

One person said, “Good on the family for speaking out. People are so out of touch that they seem to forget about ‘famous’ killers that there are very real families and victims out there who are affected by their glorification.”

“Good why the hell is she like this,” another wrote, while a third shared, “she’s sick. Imagine her being haunted by the Manchester bomber and wished to have dinner with him. This girl couldn’t connect the dots even though she had suffered an injury.
