People magazine sources have learned that singer Billy Ray Cyrus wants to “put the past behind him” over his failed marriage to Australian singer Firerose.

“He’s happy in Nashville and doing well. “He’s with close friends and has a great relationship with [his daughter] “Noah,” they added.
The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer noted that the back and forth of the divorce process may have been “annoying” for him, but “he’s happy to be out of this marriage.” The insider also noted that Billy Ray had reduced his relationship with his estranged wife to a “scam,” and now “feels lucky to have figured it all out.”
Billy Ray filed for divorce on May 22, 2024. According to court documents obtained by People, Cyrus listed “irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital behavior” as the reasons for their divorce. He also requested an annulment for fraud.

The Grammy-winning singer made a cryptic, one-word statement against Firerose on her Instagram Stories. On June 30, 2024, Cyrus posted a video of a gold photo frame with the word “Fraud” written on it. Below the word, a candle flickered as rose petals flew everywhere.

Sources close to Cyrus told People that the country singer split from Firerose because “she wasn’t the person he thought he was marrying.”
“He believes she married him for reasons other than love,” the insider alleged. “He believes she married him so he could take care of her financially. They had drama and trust issues over money.”
Meanwhile, Page Six reports that Billy Ray has “vehemently” denied Firerose’s allegations that he abused her domestically, arguing that the opposite is actually true.

In the filing obtained by the newspaper, Cyrus alleges that he was “not only verbally and mentally abused” by Firerose, but also “physically abused.”
However, Cyrus admitted that he had become “irritated, frustrated and angry” during one of their arguments in the weeks before the divorce was filed; he argued in the documents that he was “the one being abused”.
In the filing, Cyrus also claimed that his estranged wife had threatened him that she would ruin his career if he tried to divorce her, telling the public that the reason for their split was because she had undergone a double mastectomy. Indeed, Firerose revealed that she was informed of the divorce the day before her double mastectomy.
