Charli XCX is taking over the pop music world with the release of her latest record, Boy. She recently shared the meaning of her song “Talk Talk,” which she said was inspired by meeting her fiancé, George Daniel, in 2020.

The singer took to TikTok to share a video of herself discussing the meaning behind her latest track. She recalled an incident at the NME Awards in 2020 when she and The 1975 drummer were still not in a relationship.

She clarified that although they weren’t romantically involved at the time, they were “very much in love.”
She said: “We were at the NME Awards, we were both on different tables and we liked texting each other but we didn’t hang out.
Charli remembers that they would look at each other, but the other person would look away and vice versa.

“You know, when you feel like someone is watching you, you can feel a burning hole in the back of your neck or something,” she added.
She gave further details about the encounter in her lyrics, as she sang, “I followed you into the bathroom/But then I felt crazy.”

The pop superstar noted that she followed Daniel into the bathroom during the awards show hoping to run into him, but halfway there she realized how “crazy” it was so she turned around and sat down. Again.
Charli XCX and George Daniel met in 2021 when they collaborated on the song “Spinning”, he also collaborated with his future fiancée on songs from her album Accident.
After that, many fans noticed the couple going out more often and were even spotted holding hands in New York City.

In May 2022, the couple made their romance Instagram official by starting posting photos of each other on their respective accounts.
The couple got engaged in November 2023, as Charli announced on social media: “Charli xcx and George Daniel f****** for life!!!”
In other Charli updates, the musician just released his new album Brat and then surprised fans with three additional songs.
She will perform at concerts across the UK later this year and embark on a co-headlining tour with Troye Sivan, called the Sweat Tour.
