Is Fleetwood Mac reunited? Stevie Nicks set the record straight after Christine McVie’s death

Can the members of Fleetwood Mac stand on the same stage years after Christine McVie’s death?

On November 30, 2022, Fleetwood Mac lost McVie after suffering a stroke during his long battle with cancer. Before her death, she told Rolling Stone that she was unable to perform with the group due to health problems.

After the loss, Stevie Nicks set the record straight about the Fleetwood Mac reunion.

Speaking in a new interview with Mojo, Nicks made it clear that “there was no opportunity to bring Fleetwood Mac back together” following McVie’s death.

“Without Christine it wouldn’t have been possible,” Nicks said. “There’s no chance of getting Fleetwood Mac back up and running in any way. Without her, it wouldn’t work.”

She also reflected on McVie’s sudden death and how the news took them by surprise.

“It was all extremely strange because there wasn’t any lead-up to it,” she recalls. “We got a call, I was going to charter a plane to see her, but her family said, ‘Don’t come, because tomorrow she might not be here.’ And the next day, she died.”

Nicks said she wanted to be with their band member and sing for her. The loss was said to be very difficult for her because she was unable to say goodbye to McVie.

Before her death, McVie marked her final performance with Fleetwood Mac in 2019. She joined the band in 1971 and retired from performing from 1998 to 2014.

Her official death certificate shows that she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer before her death, but a severe stroke claimed her life.

Documents obtained by The Blast said she had “metastatic melanoma of unknown primary origin.”
