“Not Like Us” was a huge success for Lamar, which topped the charts Billboard Hot 100 with song. It went on to be named one of the best songs of the year by various publications, including Rolling Stone And Billboard.

Although the song was generally praised, it was the subject of a legal dispute with fellow rapper, Drake, who was said to be talking about the song.

Late last year, Drake filed multiple lawsuits over the song and alleged that Universal Music Group paid stations to play the song to increase its popularity. Additionally, Drake alleged that UMG knew that “Not Like Us” had falsely called him various derogatory names such as “pedophile” and still chose to release the song.

In a separate legal action, Drake claimed that UMG also falsely inflated the streaming numbers of “Not Like Us.”

While Lamar is preparing for an eventful 2025, he’s touring with SZA to promote his new album GNXas well as headlining Super Bowl 2025. That also wasn’t without controversy as the game was scheduled to take place in Lil Wayne’s town of New Orleans, and many believed he should have must become a leader.

According to an interview he did with Skip Bayless, despite their rocky relationship, Wayne has since resolved all issues with Lamar and shared that he “wish him all the best best”.

Wayne also responded to Lamar allegedly calling him out GNXas he raps, “Once I bumped into ‘Tha Carter III’ I was proud of my Rollie streak/Ironically, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.”

This prompted Wayne to reply: “That was the first time I heard it. I think he was a fan just like I was a fan of his music. I think he saw what everyone someone else saw – how much it meant to me. He didn’t let me down.”
