Gwen Stefani is getting candid about how she feels about her signature style when it comes to aging.
The No Doubt frontwoman spoke to Star about her choices and how she became less confident about herself as she grew older.
“Sometimes I question my style. As you get older, you want to be yourself but you also want to grow and not feel stuck in the past,” she said via News.com.
Stefani shared that she faces an internal struggle when it comes to evolving and trying new things with her style choices.
“Now, I find myself going back to a job that I love. I’ve always done that. I’ve never really changed. It’s hard because part of me wants to be like, ‘who care how old you are, just be you.’ And then other parts of me wanted to grow and not be that person anymore, because you’re not in high school anymore,” she shared.
“It’s hard because if we talk about style and art and all that, who makes the rules? These things all go through my mind. Honestly, for a minute I was thinking think, I don’t care and I’ll wear whatever I want, and the next time I’ll say, hey, maybe you should grow up a little,” Stefani added.
Stefani is a mother of three children. Stefani has sons Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 10, whom she shares with ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale. Now, Stefani has shared how it changed her.
“Becoming a parent is not something you think about when you’re a little girl and you think, ‘I’m going to be a mom!’ It’s profound. Their happiness is my happiness. Having sobriety is making sure they are safe, happy, and loved. The responsibility is greater than you can imagine and have so much pride in your child, and so many rewards that automatically come with sacrifices, worries, anxieties and stress,” she said.
Stefani also recently released a new album, Bouqueton November 15. It features the single “Somebody Else’s” and her most recent single “Swallow My Tears”. While the album received mixed reviews and a tepid reception on the charts, Stefani opened up about how she’s grown since her first solo album. Love. Angel. Music. Baby. to her most recent one.
“When I went back and composed some of the songs from the past, especially LAMB, it was a very creative time for me. I was able to go deep into myself and express what I love , my insecurities and collaborating with people for the first time outside of my relationship with No Doubt, which is a beautiful relationship, but as you grow and mature as an artist Doctor, forcing yourself into new situations with people other talent forces you to grow up in LAMB, and I had a lot of output, I was the most creative I’ve ever been, and I had no filter at all completely different time in my life,” she said.
