Robby Toma is a childhood friend of Manti Te’o, the main character in the two-part Netflix series Not to mention: The girlfriend that doesn’t existRobby grew up four houses down from Manti, who joined him on the Irish team as a catcher. They played together at Punahou High School and Notre Dame.

While they grew together as athletes, Robby also supported Manti as much as he could. Speaking on the Netflix show, Robby shared that Manti was having a hard time adjusting, so he never considered their long-distance relationship as long as it made him happy.
