Joe Ajaero began his professional journey as a research officer at the Nigerian Army’s Mechanized Infantry Division in Kaduna for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from 1990 to 1991 He then worked as a reporter/reporter and assistant news editor at Vanguard Newspapers from 1992 to 2001.
Ajaero began his career with the National Union of Electrical Employees (NUEE) in 2001, where he initially served as Head of Training/Information. Over the years, he worked hard to rise and became President in 2005.
Throughout this role, Joe Ajaero remained committed to fighting for better working conditions and welfare for electricity workers in Nigeria. In addition, he boldly spoke out against government policies that he believed would harm the rights and welfare of workers.
In 2023, Ajaero emerged as the elected President of the Nigerian Labor Congress, marking a milestone in his career. Notably, he became the first union member from the electricity industry to assume this prestigious leadership position in the NLC.
