Palm tree music festival disaster: From hours-long lines, dangerous chaos to water shortages

The Palm Tree Music Festival returned for the fourth time this year and was held at the Shinnecock Nation in Southampton. It featured major performers like Swedish House Mafia, Kygo, etc., but not all fans had a great experience as many of them expressed their concerns on social media after the event and some even described it as a disaster; What happened?

Prior to the event, Page Six reported that the annual event had encountered a major problem: They failed to obtain a permit to hold the festival at their usual location, Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton.

Fox 5 NY reported that the Federal Aviation Administration did not renew their license, leading them to look for another location just weeks before the event.

They face more hurdles even after the event, as there are many reports of bad experiences.

Some fans complained about having to wait for hours for shuttle buses, lack of alcohol and water, etc.

“The rest of this year’s event was a disaster!” one fan wrote on their Instagram post, adding: “Running out of alcohol AND water combined with unsafe chaos trying to leave the venue.” Fans have called on the event to share an official statement and address the issues faced by festival-goers.

One person commented: “Why don’t you put out a statement showing it has left the place and the fact that it is not safe to leave the property on your own.”

One fan even called for the event to be cancelled, writing: “Most disorganized chaos I have ever been to. The Hamptons and Palm Tree Festival should have been DESTROYED at this year’s event. Event This should be canceled going forward for everyone’s safety.”

Luckily, there were no reports of injuries at the festival. A source also said that the event did not lack water because there were water stations throughout the venue.

At the time of writing, Palm Tree Music Festival organizers have yet to address concerns circulating on social media, but Palm Tree Crew co-founder Myles Shear admits that this year is not must be the best year yet, as he said, “Year four is our best yet and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

In addition to Swedish House Mafia and Kygo, Purple Disco Machine and Sofi Tukker also performed at the event.
