Early life
Paul Otiende Amollo was born on February 1 (1 February 1971) and grew up with parents who were not financially well off.
At one point, he thought about becoming a fisherman.
However, he dropped out of elementary school to go fishing before his family convinced him to return to school.
The main reason he made this decision was due to his parents’ financial limitations. As a result, he thought he would not be able to continue his education after finishing elementary school.
However, he was persuaded and encouraged by his aunt to continue going to school.
Paul Otiende Amollo’s father, who worked as a laborer for Maseno University management, was fired and kicked out of his home when he was a child.
This incident motivated him to strive and study. It was in the midst of all those difficulties that he aimed to reach the pinnacle of his career as he does today.
Education
Paul Otiende Amollo attended Maseno Mixed Primary School for his primary education. It was easy for him to join Maranda Boys High School in 1986 because he was an outstanding student.
He graduated from Maranda Boys High School in 1989 with a KCSE average of A (flat).
After graduating from high school, he joined the University of Nairobi to study law and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1995.
He also holds a Law degree from Kenya Law School. In 1998, he obtained a Certificate in International Human Rights Law from Lund University, Sweden.
In 2014, Amollo went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Nairobi Scholarship (DAAD German Academic Exchange Programme).
Career
Apart from being a Lawyer, Paul Otiende Amollo is also an accomplished researcher. He has conducted several types of research in the areas of Constitutional Law, Theory and Practice, African Human Rights System, HIV/AIDS and Law issues.
He is also working for the Government of Kenya as the Chairman of the Administrative Justice Committee (Office of the Ombudsman).
Paul Otiende Amollo as well as many other domestic responsibilities, including:
- President of the International Commission of Jurists (Kenya – Section)
- President of Action Aid International (Kenya)
- Secretary General of the East African Law Society
- Council Member of the Kenya Bar Association.

Personal life
Paul Otiende Amollo is married to Lilian Amollo. His wife said he was a good and responsible man.
Their marriage was blessed with six children, Rodney Amollo, Miriam Amollo, Paula Amollo, Jewel Amollo, Jean Amollo and John Amollo.
He said in an interview how much he enjoys spending time with his loving family.
