Peter Obi was born in Onitsha on 19 July 1961. He is a native of Anambra State, Nigeria. His siblings are Bibiana Adani, Ndibe Obi, Fabian Obi and Martina Obi. Mr. and Mrs. Obi gave birth to him at the age of 62.

Peter Obi resigned on 29 May 2007, following the general election won by Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba.
