early life

Shadow_001 was born on June 4, 2020, in the Igbo ethnic group to parents Mr. Anaduamaka and Mrs. Anaduamaka.

Her parents, devout Pentecostal Christians, named her Chinwendu Christophine.

At home and among the neighbours, she was known as Chinwendu.

A native of Onitsha, Anambra State, she spent her growing up years in her hometown, living with her parents and siblings.

Growing up, Shadow inherited tomboyish mannerisms and participated in activities that other girls considered too daring. For example, she often played ball with the boys from the neighborhood. So when she announced to her parents that she wanted to make music, they weren’t too shocked.

In November 2019, she was one of the artists invited by Hero to perform at a concert in southeastern Nigeria. On December 15, 2019, she posted a video on her Instagram page in which she sang a cover of Timaya’s song “Win” featuring Falz The Bahd Guy. The video went viral on social media networks and caught the attention of Timaya, who praised her for reinterpreting the song in her own dialect.

She didn’t hold back on her creativity and continued to cover popular songs. Another single that took the internet by storm was the song “Get It On” by Phyno. The video received thousands of likes and comments, with many people, including Phyno, commenting that they were amazed by her rapping skills. Shadow_001 posted the video on January 17, 2020. It was her way of welcoming her fans into the new year and reminding them that she has a lot of great stuff in store for them.

Seven months later, Shadow_001 released the single “Chuba Ego” on July 22, 2021. The song became a huge hit in southeastern Nigeria, where most of her fans live. Within days of its release, the song became one of the featured songs played in clubs across the region. In March 2021, she covered Yoruba rapper Deniy Vic’s “Ire Tuntun”. In May 2021, she was invited by the media network Hot Television to showcase her talents in their freestyle sessions. Her work caught the attention of popular rapper and hype man Slimcase, who invited Shadow_001 to participate in his weekly Instagram Live Rap Sessions in July 2021. She once again stunned the audience with her smooth beats and outstanding performance, which helped her gain more fans in the city of Lagos.

Three weeks after her performance on Slimcase, she covered a song by Reminisce and Olamide. Soon after, she scored another hit by appearing on the remix of Jagad Panda’s song Kpoi.
