She returned to Chicago, completed her bachelor’s degree in education at Pestalozzi Froebel Teachers College, and also completed her master’s degree in education at Roosevelt University. She taught first grade in Broadview, Illinois, and Greek school in Skokie, Illinois.

Christopher’s father Deno had two older brothers, Alexander and Theodore, who died after Deno. The second of three sons, Alexander graduated from both Muskegon High School and Muskegon Junior College, and was an even prouder graduate of the University of Michigan, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She passed away peacefully at the age of 47 on February 22, 2013, after a courageous two-year battle with brain cancer.
