Young musical prodigy wins ‘AGT’ golden buzzer with catchy cover of Tina Turner’s ‘River Deep, Mountain High’

Pranysqa Mishra won over the judges after she performed the late Tina Turner’s “River Deep, Mountain High” during her audition on America’s Got Talent season 19.

At the age of 9, Mishra from Tampa, Florida surprised judges Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara and Howie Mandel with her amazing audition.

“I have always loved singing. Singing makes me happy. Even when I was four years old, I would pretend that I had a microphone and sing as if I was singing to the world,” Mishra shared about his passion for singing.

In the interview, Mishra said her love for singing was due to her grandmother, whom she revealed she would call up once things got going.

When Cowell asked her favorite artists, the nine-year-old surprised everyone by saying Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Turner. When asked who her favorite judges were, Mishra confessed that it was Vergara and Klum.

As soon as the first beat of the song hits, Mishra transforms into a seasoned performer with a powerful voice that would make Turner proud. Just before the chorus hits, the audience screams and claps before standing up mid-performance as she begins to play her riffs.

When the performance ended, everyone stood up and applauded her.

“Oh my gosh, I didn’t expect that. We expect a lot of things, but I didn’t expect that,” Klum said before handing the golden buzzer to Mishra. “I want you to call your grandmother and tell her that Heidi Klum pressed the golden buzzer for you.”

As the young star enjoyed the moment, she shared: “My dream has come true. I can’t believe it.”

People in the comments section praised Mishra for many things, including her musical abilities at such a young age.

“How can she be so well controlled at 9 years old! Her voice has matured and become more mature! The way she runs, the way she sings high notes, the way she switches from head to high notes is amazing! She is a star! Being such a strong person at 9, imagine her at 20, my God!” one user commented.

“She sang Tina Turner’s song like a strong, powerful version of Tina Turner. She gave everyone a well-deserved standing ovation. It was great to see her sing with so much emotion and positivity. RIP Tina Turner,” another wrote.
