According to sources who spoke to Daily Mail, close friends of Lost Girl star has revealed that he is struggling with feelings of “deep sadness” due to the breakdown of his marriage, while also struggling with a long-term struggle with alcoholism and gambling addiction.

Affleck initially decided to quit drinking in 1997, marking the beginning of his journey toward sobriety.

“I just wanted to stop. I was starting to regret some of the things I did when I was drunk,” he told a reporter at the time via Fox News.

Affleck added, “It’s funny to be obnoxious or out of control, but then it’s like, ‘I think I hurt that person’s feelings,’ ‘I made a fool of myself.’ or ‘I don’t want to kiss that girl’.” I have almost no inhibitions so it’s very dangerous for me.”

Now, it has been suggested that the 51-year-old actor is in danger of falling out of the race because of previous difficulties or may have relapsed into drinking due to his alleged problems about marriage.

A source told the outlet: “I heard he was drinking. He’s full of demons – a really troubled person.”

A second insider revealed: “I have seen him looking dazed and that is a real worry for those who care about him.”

Guadalupe Rodriguez, Lopez’s mother, appears to have changed her stance on her son-in-law, from supporting a revival of the Bennifer romance in 2022 to opposing it.

This comes after Affleck and Lopez were seen together at the lavish $60 million mansion they once called home, which has 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms. The couple decided to put it up for sale, further increasing divorce rumors.

Affleck has been renting a $100,000-per-month house in Brentwood since May, while Lopez decided to cancel her entire summer tour to save their marriage.

According to another source who spoke to this news agency, it is known that Affleck was mentally giving up on the marriage, but Lopez has not yet accepted this reality.

They explained that the “Jenny From the Block” singer remains hopeful that they can reconcile and mend their relationship through counseling.

The insider added: “It’s made even more difficult by the fact that we’re dealing with the emotions of the five children they have between them.”

“There are many reasons why it doesn’t work out but when you lose [Lopez’s] family, you lose [Lopez]. Her mother and her sisters oppose him and Benny [Medina] also.”
