South African superstar Tyla has officially released “Push 2 Start”, the latest release from the deluxe edition of her Grammy-winning debut album, Tyla. Accompanied by a vibrant and dynamic image, Tyla continues to prove her abilities as a genre-defying female singer.

However, the singer teased a release on the night of the 2024 Presidential election, disappointing social networks. As many members of the African American community mourn the passing of Kamala Harris, some expressed the release of Tyla’s music as “tone deaf.”

Despite the criticism, many fans came to Tyla’s defense, noting that as a South African citizen, she was not technically affected by the election. Fans also noted that she “seemed out of place in the eyes of black America”, following criticism of her referring to herself as black and acting like a “diva” during her Awards win. I was looking at the comments, and this is exactly why people can’t stand us Americans, because everyone thinks the world revolves around them. 😭 She’s allowed to release a song, calm down. Be calm.
