Killer Mike Won’t Be Charged After Grammy Arrest – Here’s Why

Earlier this year, Killer Mike made headlines after he was arrested outside the Peacock Theater during the pre-Grammy Awards telecast. More recently, it was reported that the rapper will not face any charges related to the incident.

According to TMZ, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office will not file any charges against the musician because he has completed his hearing with his attorney. In addition, he will participate in community service activities with a non-profit organization of his choice.

Before being arrested, the rapper, whose real name is Michael Render, won three awards, including Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for the song “SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS” in collaboration with Eryn Allen Kane, Future and André 3000.

The musician was arrested after an argument between him and a security guard over his qualifications. That evening, he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge but later released without bail.

According to sources who spoke to Billboard, the musician left the security area at the Peacock Theater, but when he returned, he tried to return with the others. That’s when he was stopped by security and asked for his login information, which then led to an argument between the two parties.

The Los Angeles Police Department later issued one declare about an adult male they arrested, writing, “an adult male was detained and handcuffed as a result of an altercation that occurred in the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court. The suspect was arrested and transferred to LAPD Central Division.”

“As you can imagine, there was a lot going on and some confusion around which door my team and I were supposed to enter. We encountered an overzealous security guard, but my team and I had the utmost confidence that I would eventually be cleared of any wrongdoing,” he said in a statement after his arrest.

Then he appeared on View mode, where he shared more details about his arrest, saying he walked out of the venue with “the same dignity and respect as when I entered.”

At the time of this writing, Killer Mike has yet to publicly react to the recent news of him not being charged.

In another update, the musician released a new song titled “EXIT 9” featuring Blxst months after his arrest.
