Early life
Lindiwe Zulu’s birthplace is Nhlazatshe, Mpumalanga, South Africa, where she was born on 21 April 1958.

Her family was forced to relocate because of this. Lindiwe and her family were lucky because her mother was a Swazi from Gege, and they were forced to move to Swaziland.
Education
Lindiwe Zulu attended Saint Theresa and Mjingo Schools before continuing her studies at Ezulwini’s Swaziland Cooperative Development College. She then studied at Mazimbu, Tanzania’s Solomon Mahlangu Free College (SOMAFCO).
Her dedication to studying and hard work helped her receive a scholarship to study journalism in the Soviet Union.
She went to Angola in 1987 to receive military training with the African Women’s Organization.
Career
Lindiwe Zulu returned from exile in 1992 and won a prominent position in South African politics. She was appointed communications director of the ANC Women’s League.
The following year, she was elected to the ANC executive committee, and in the same year, she was appointed to the ANC’s media and propaganda department as election spokesperson.
She was elected to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature the following year. She was appointed Vice President of the National Assembly in 1995. She worked as a special advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for two years (1999-2001).

She was Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for West and Central Africa for two more years (2001-2003). The following year, she was appointed South African Ambassador to Brazil, a position she held for four years and six months.
Since 2009, she has been a Member of Parliament for the African National Congress. Lindiwe was selected for the National Working Committee of the African National Congress.
She also served as Minister of Small Business Development, a position she held from 2014 to 2016.
Personal life
Lindiwe Zulu married South African exile Kgosietsile Itholeng. During her exile in Angola, the couple met.
She is also the proud mother of four children, two boys named Sipho and Boitumelo and two girls; Nokuthula and Phindile. She had to leave South Africa because of apartheid.
She never returned home and was forced to live away from her children for many years.
She was involved in a scandal but she was vindicated when she claimed she spent R3.1 million on the minister’s car.
