He currently serves as senior pastor of Pentecostal Ministries, Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA).

The church has five branches (nicknamed Campuses) in major cities in Africa and Asia.

He founded the church in 1999 at the age of 23 and with the help of his wife, Modele, they grew the ministry to thousands of congregations.

Early life

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo was born into a respectable Fatoyinbo family on January 1, 1976.

Because he was born on New Year’s Day, his parents gave him the name Abiodun, which translates into English as Born On A Festival.

He is a Yoruba man from North Central, Nigeria. He was born and raised in Ilorin by his parents. He is the first child in a family of three siblings.

Despite being taught good morals by his parents, Biodun joined a secret society while in college. He and his fellow believers terrorized the students and staff of the academy. This caused the university management to withdraw his admission and remove him.

To achieve his dream of graduating, he enrolled at the University of Benin. It was at this university that his life took a new turn when he dedicated his life to Christ. Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo studied in top primary and secondary schools in Ilorin and has the First School Leaving Certificate and West African School Certificate to prove it.

He had a brief stint at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State. However, he obtained his first degree at the University of Benin, Edo State.

Since 1999, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo has flourished in his pastoral work. His ministry currently has five branches (campuses) in Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates. The church’s headquarters is at Asokoro Extension, Abuja, where he and his wife, Modele, serve as Senior Pastors. With a congregation of over twenty thousand members, COZA is one of the largest Pentecostal ministries in Nigeria.

In addition to Abuja, other facilities are located in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ilorin and Dubai. The church is considered one of the leading new generation churches in the country. This ministry is quite famous for having many humanitarian programs in line with the biblical faith of showing love to everyone. Under the leadership of Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the church runs an NGO called COZA Care Foundation. This foundation is responsible for organizing programs such as Jesus Paid It All: Free Shopping (Yard Sale); and leprosy outreach.

Previously, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and members of his church visited a correctional facility for boys in Oregun, Lagos; organized a free medical testing outreach program for residents of Irewole Community, Lagos; visited prisoners at Ikoyi Prison to distribute relief materials; and visited Oke Kura and Mandala prisons in Ilorin.

As a lover of gospel music, he was inspired to form two musical groups which he named – The Avalanche and The Gratitude. The former was formed in 2008 while the latter was formed in 2016. The Gratitude’s mission is to create mainstream music with a spiritual message. It is a combination of gospel and pop music genres. While The Avalanche’s mission is to compose and perform deeply spiritual songs of praise and worship. Avalanche has had the opportunity to perform at several Christian gatherings around the world. They performed gospel songs with artists such as Tasha Cobbs, Tye Tribbett and Don Moen.

The Gratitude became a household name after they released the single Rabababa-Eh. The single became one of the praise songs of choice in Nigerian churches. To commemorate their good work, the group won the Choir/Group of the Year award at the UK Gospel Touch Music Awards.

Argumentative

In 2019, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo was the subject of heated controversy when he was accused of sexual assault by Busola Dakolo. Mrs. Busola Dakolo is the wife of singer-songwriter Timi Dakolo.

She made the accusation in June 2019 and it sparked a series of protests and outcry online. These outcries forced Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo to resign as church leader until August 2019. Mrs. Busola brought legal action against him but it was dismissed by an Abuja court in November year 2019.
