Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ Makes Oscar-Winning Director Interested in Making Similar Films

Taylor Swift’s impact on culture and the arts even extends to those who have made it big in the film industry. Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh has revealed that he draws inspiration from Swift Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film for a new project he is working on.

Speaking to Variety at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic, Soderbergh explained that he had been struggling to come up with a concept that delved into the mechanics of “large-scale, successful collaborations” like Swift’s The Eras Tour performances and how they contrast with global issues.

“I was thinking about a project where I was analyzing large-scale collaborative efforts that work. Airports. Why do airports work? Or AA?” he revealed. “You look at a Taylor Swift concert, this whole tour, and it works. So why can’t we find Syria or any other conflict?”

The Traffic The director believes that humor and music go hand in hand to engage audiences.

“Humor is a great medium to convey ideas and nothing can light up the brain like music, so this project better be funny and have some musical components to open people’s hearts,” he further explained, noting that he wants viewers to “feel different” after watching the film.

Speaking of Swift’s global and cultural impact, Soderbergh also agrees with the idea of ​​including Swift in college classrooms.

“People laugh when they hear there’s a class in college about her and I think, ‘There should be a class like that,'” the 61-year-old director declared, noting that the global pop star has “taken over” with her “unwavering” dedication to her craft.

When it was uploaded to Disney+, The Hollywood Reporter recorded more than 16 million hours of viewing in its first three days on the platform. In its opening weekend, the film garnered 4.6 million views worldwide, making it the No. 1 musical ever on the platform.
