Kanye West Accused of Deliberately Delaying The Gap Lawsuit Trial Through Lawyer’s Sudden Request

Kanye West is accused of using delaying tactics when trying an important trial.

According to legal documents obtained by In Touch Weekly, a company called Art City Center has objected to the rapper’s attorney, Brian Brumfield, being removed from his relationship with the singer.

“Defendant Kanye West ended their relationship on June 21, 2024. Defendant also did not speak to an attorney and refused to pay for an attorney,” Brumfield told the court.

Customers are finding the highly anticipated collaboration of #DISTANCE X #Have like a rummage sale – from clothes that don’t get folded – just tossed on the table if you’re lucky. The rest has to go through the trash bag. #failure pic.twitter.com/YpRifABxL6

However, Art City Center, which filed a lawsuit against The Gap in 2022, asked the court to dismiss the attorneys’ request if the lawsuit could be delayed.

As of this writing, the court has not yet approved Brumfield’s request to no longer serve as West’s legal advisor.

According to the source, Art City Center has leased a building in Los Angeles to the famous retailer from April 2021 to March 2022. Gap agreed to pay $104,000 in monthly rent and an additional $8,000 in parking fees. Additionally, they agreed not to modify any part of the property.

However, in the lawsuit, Art City Center said the company had “completed numerous significant modifications that were not approved.” They are seeking $800,000 in damages from The Gap, but the company has denied any involvement in the incident.

According to previous reports, the company felt West and his team were responsible for the lawsuit being filed against them.

The Los Angeles building is home to the musician’s Yeezy clothing store, but they’re accused of renovating the building without approval from the City’s Arts Center.

The Gap then claimed that their contract with the rapper held them harmless from any claims that might be made against them, and they then countersued West for more than $2 million in damages.

West and The Gap began collaborating in 2020, and his Yeezy line was originally planned to be sold in their stores. However, the partnership fell apart in 2022 when West terminated the deal due to alleged “noncompliance.”

“Not only was the performance of the work in breach of the Strategic Agreement, but the manner in which the work was prepared and carried out created the need for repairs and restoration as set out in the complaint,” The Gap said.
